Common Insert Design Goals
For each insert we create, we have a few "common design goals". They are:
- Reduce setup time as much as possible
- Have separate component trays for "setup components" and "gameplay components"
- Allow for vertical box storage without components crushing each other
- Fit sleeved cards
Wiz-War Insert Details
For this game we decided to store the base game and both expansions in one box with an overflowing insert (the lid doesn't fit on all the way). While we're quite happy with how the insert came out, we ultimately regret throwing out the expansion boxes. For the school decks, we built a large "well" that stores each of them with a foam core separator, labelled with the schools' icons and names on each side. All play tokens are in one tray, and all setup tokens/miniatures are in another tray. Below are images of the insert. We will likely re-buy the expansions and create a new insert down the road.
